The Sleeping Canvases is the seventeenth level in Blasphemous. This page features a detailed walkthrough of this area, explaining the new enemy types you'll encounter, as well as information on collectibles you can find.

The Sleeping Canvases

Activate the Prie Dieu as you enter The Sleeping Canvases, then carry on to the right. As you do, you'll meet a few new types of enemies. One will be the portraits on the wall that will move to the forefront as you approach them and attack, the others are mannequins and a giant stone guard who you'll have to defeat to enter the next room.

Go through the door and you'll see a door off to the right and a ladder going down. Go to the room on the right and there will be swinging blades for you to avoid as you jump over pits of thorns and over to the right.

Take the ladder down and take out the three paintings along the way. Jump over to the platform on the right to pick up Sooty Garlic.

The door on the right leads to a room with three paintings. In here, you need to solve a puzzle to open a door on the right. To solve this puzzle, equip a Big Bead of Red Wax and a Big Bead of Blue Wax to your rosary. Then cut yourself to open the door. Go inside and pick up the Molten Heart of Boiling Blood from the statue,

The one on the left takes you to a room with swinging blades, lots of mannequins and one of the fire-breathing enemies you encountered earlier. Move through this room, to the left, taking out the fire-breathing enemy and you'll come to a room with the merchant's door again.

Here you can buy:

• Wicked Knot prayer bead for 4000 Tears of Atonement
• Empty Bile Vessel for 9000 Tears of Atonement
• Key of the Inquisitor for 9999 Tears of Atonement

Go to the left and you'll see a series of platforms, a bed of spikes and swinging blades. Drop down and take the door first, you'll find a Cherub in here that you'll be able to hit with a Prayer Spell such as Taranto to my Sister, and a Big Bead of Blue Wax from the statue.

Now go back out and head for the ledge above by jumping over to the right first, then the left. Climb the ladder, jump on the platforms to go up and across the top. Drop down and slide through the gap to the left then duck under the swinging blades and hit the mannequins, to move safely over to the left.

Pick up the Quicksilver, slide back through and go across again, to the chalice to increase your Fervour.

Slide to the right and hit the contraption to open the gate back into the Library of the Negated Words.

From here you can run through to the right and back to the start of The Sleeping Canvases. Go across to the right again, then this time, jump across the ledge and take the room to the right. Jump across the pit with the thorns, timing it to avoid the swinging blades and over to the stone statue at the end. Defeat this then move to the right

In here, you'll find more mannequins and a fire-breathing enemy. Head over to the right of the room and take out the fire-breathing enemy. Jump up and across the platforms, jumping over the blades as they swing so you're not knocked off the ledges.

When you reach the top, go to the room on the left to activate a Prie Dieu and replenish.

Go left, and interact with the painting to obtain the Linen of Golden Thread (this will allow you to descend into bottomless abysses), then go over to the right ledge. If you haven't used Viridiana three times, she'll appear here. You can choose to use her to assist you in the upcoming boss battle or not. Continue to the right, and enter the door to the boss battle

Boss Battle Against Exposito, Scion of Abjuration

For this boss battle, you want to avoid them at all times, as any contact will cause damage. The main thing to note is that when the circle appears, and the baby starts to cry, you must get out of that circle as quickly as possible and not let it catch you. Otherwise, the baby will pick you up and it will be an instant death.

The main things that this boss will do are: spit fire, poison and projectiles at you. It will also raise its tail along the bottom of the screen, and occasionally try to hit you with it. The fire can be dodged, as it's spat out and bounces along the walkway. The poison can be avoided, as it rains from above, and the projectiles will only reach a certain distance so you'll want to run away from them.

Focus attacks on the face and once you've defeated this boss, you'll earn the Blind Innocence achievement. Now go to the right and you'll be back in the Library of the Negated Words.
