Archcathedral Rooftops - Blasphemous Guide - IGN (2024)

Archcathedral Rooftops is the eighteenth level in Blasphemous. This page features a detailed walkthrough of this area, explaining the new enemy types you'll encounter, as well as information on collectibles you can find.

Archcathedral Rooftops

Activate the Prie Dieu at the start of this section, then go to the right and through the door. In this room, you'll see an enemy chained and locked in a ball as well as orbs coming down from above. These are being thrown by flying mask enemies that are similar to the ones you encountered earlier.

Take out the chained enemies, then climb up and deal with the flying masks. Use the plank on the left, to climb up to the top of this section. Go up and through the door to the right.

Now you'll be at a section with an enemy with a sceptre on the ledge above and with the Blood Perpetuated in Sand equipped, there's also a ledge over the thorns that will let you cross quickly.

Jump over to the right and fight the fire-breathing enemy and the chained ball. Go up the ladder first, before continuing to the right. Use the plank on the left, to climb up and jump onto the moving platform.

Take out the flying mask enemy, then jump up using the plank on the right to climb up further. Go over to the left to pick up the item here that's the Ribs of Sabnock, the Guardian.

Drop down to the bottom of this room then go back down the ladder. Now head over to the right and through the door. In here, you'll see a statue of three faces, some bells, levers and chains.

Interact with the statue to give it the Deformed Mask of Orestes and the Embossed Mask of Crescente.

Before using this, go to the right first and a mini-boss battle will begin. You'll be locked in until the fight is over. They'll have similar moves to the Esdras, of the Anointed Legion fight.

Once you've defeated them you'll be given the Mark of the First Refuge. (When you return to this bridge after, there will be an enemy with a sceptre).

Now go to the right, through the door and climb down the ladder to the lower lever. Go over to the right and climb up the ladder here.

Use the plank to climb up, take out the flying mask and continue up. You'll reach a part of this section that's covered in poison, so here you'll want to have the Silvered Lung of Dolphos, Blood Perpetuated in Sand, and Three Gnarled Tongues equipped. This will allow you to climb up to a door on the right, where you can increase your maximum health.

Leave the room and drop down to the blood ledge. Then go to the left and slide through the gap, and be ready to hang on the plank on the left. Climb up, using the alternating planks. Then jump over to the ledge on the right and hit the contraption to open the gate above.

Drop back down to the ledge below, then down to the lower lever again. Then take the ladder down to the very bottom.

Head through the door on the left and you'll be trapped in this section as well. There will be a flying enemy and one with a sceptre that appears. The battle is fairly straightforward, so as soon as you've beaten them both, the door will open. Go through to the left. Here you'll find a Prie Dieu, another door to the left and a lever at the bottom.

Use the Prie Dieu to save and replenish, then pull then go over to the room on the left. You'll see two of the caged flying enemies and an item being held by a statue. Fight the two enemies then pick up the Heart of Oils. Go back to the right, then drop down to pull the lever to activate a shortcut down to Mother of Mothers. Don't go down here yet.

Now return to the lift you activated with the masks and pull the lever on the right. This will take you up. You'll have the option to go left or right here. Go to the right and you'll be trapped with another one of the enemies that will perform the same moves as Esdras, of the Anointed Legion. There will also be a winged enemy, with a spear.

Defeating these two will give you the Mask of the Second Refuge. You'll want to take this back to Socorro and Cleofas a bit later. If you continue to the right, you'll be able to access the room as you raised the gate earlier. In here you'll have two of the winged enemies with spears appear. Defeat these to progress even further to the right.

As you come into this room, you want to jump on the lift going up then jump over to the blood ledges. This will allow you to climb up to a root that you can scale to reach the Lunate of Keiya, the Butcher. Drop down and head over to the right. Use the planks to scale the wall and jump up onto the lift. Then jump across to the right, and onto the platform and scale the wall here. At the top, on the left, is another contraption that will raise the gate shown above you. Jump and hit it, then land on the lift to make your way back down.

Go all the way back to the left, to the lift and use the lever on the right again. This will take you up to the third floor. You can go to the left and use the platforms to reach a Prie Dieu that will let you save and replenish your flasks. Go back to the lift, then go across to the right. Use the platforms to reach the door on the right and keep going across. You'll be locked in here and have to defeat two of the winged enemies and another of the ones that attack like Esdras. Defeating them will give you the Mark of the Third Refuge.

Go to the right, and all the way across as you'll have unlocked the gate earlier if you were following this walkthrough. You'll eventually come to a Mea Culpa Shrine.

Go back to the lift. Then take this all the way down and work your way back to the Prie Dieu and ladder down to Mother of Mothers. This time, climb down the ladder, then drop down to the right-hand side. You want to access the room with Socorro, Our Pious Lady of the Perpetual Agony. Approach her and make an offering, by giving her the Mark of the First Refuge, Mark of the Second Refuge and Mark of the Third Refuge. Leave the room and use the planks on the far left to climb up and back up the ladder.

Make your way back up to the lift. Ride to the third floor again, then go left. Jump across the platforms, past the Prie Dieu, then cross more platforms and go all the way to the left. In here, you'll find a fast travel room. Use this to go back to Albero and give Tirso any ingredients you might not have returned yet, then go outside to speak to Ludivico who will tell you that the man you met with Socorro is Cleofas.

He will give the Cord of True Burying. You'll want to return this to Cleofas, who you can find at the start of Archcathedral Rooftops now. When you're ready, use the fast travel portal to return.

Go back across to the right and climb down the ladder. Drop down to the ledges below, and use the planks and moving platforms to reach the contraption in the bottom left of the corner. Use this to start the lift that will take you down further, then work your way down. Climb down the ladder and go back to the left, to reach the start of the level. When you reach the Prie Dieu, go to the left and through the door. You'll see Cleofas here. Speak to him and give him the Cord of the True Burying.

Go back to where you first took the lift. Hit the bells if the lift isn't on the lower level, to bring it down. Now take go to the second floor and go through the door on the left. There will be a few of the winged enemies here with spears and the caged ones in a ball. Work your way to the left and you'll come to another contraption to activate. Jump up and hit this, This will begin a platform that will let you go up and collect the Cherub on the left side of the room here.

If you take this down, you'll be in the room near the start of this level where you first climbed up the ladder.

Go to the room on the left and jump over the pits of thorns while taking out the flying masks. Climb down the ladder when you reach it, then take the platform down and across to the right. Drop down using the planks, then jump onto the platform to reach the contraption that will start the platforming going up and down.

Work your way back up and over to the far left of this section. Defeat the fire-breathing enemy and the winged one. Then go through the door to the left to reach the Wall of Holy Prohibitions.

Archcathedral Rooftops Return

When you return, you'll have access to the fourth and final part of Archcathedral Rooftops, which is essentially just a boss battle before you reach Deambulatory of His Holiness. This boss battle is against Crisanta of the Wrapped Agony.

Crisanta has similar attacks to The Penitent One, so you'll want to try and parry as much as possible to deflect these attacks. Performing a parry will also give you a gap in which you can land an attack.

Here's what else you can expect from this battle:

• A slash attack

When she begins a slash attack, she'll cover the map pretty quickly. You'll want to parry as soon as she begins to attack, to help block them. However, there is a trick that you can take advantage of here to make things a little bit easier. If you push Crisanta over to one side of the screen, you'll be able to keep her there and simply parry, attack, parry, attack until you lower her health. This makes the fight significantly easier and stops her from having an advantage.

• Teleportation

Crisanta will either appear on the bottom of the screen, on either side and teleport across the screen, or she'll appear in the air. When she appears in the air, she'll attack diagonally, and when she's on either side of the screen at the bottom she'll attack horizontally. Simply dash out of the way as she appears.

When you've beaten Crisanta, you'll receive the Duel of Faith achievement and be able to progress onto the Deambulatory of His Holiness.
