Gameplay[]

The core gameplay is the same as the the first Taiko no Tatsujin DS game. As it was designed to take advantage of DS's touchscreen, player can playing the song using the bachi-pens and the DS's touchscreen.

In the Dojo Conquest mode (道場やぶりモード), the game's main story mode, the player takes control of Don as he conquers all the dojos across the seven islands and taking them from the Dokon Gang.

In some battles, the player will need to clear specific conditions to clear the stages. Some are four-way battles that requires the player to get the highest score points. On boss battles, the player will need to hit the note to deplete the boss's tamashii gauge. However, some obstacles will show up such as bomb notes and objects blocking the song during boss battles.

Story[]

Don has built his own dojo just above his (and Katsu) house and has running it since then, and he got a new apprentice (the player) who wanted to be the best taiko drum master like Don was.

Then one day, their training was interrupted when a bird delivered a mail to them. The mail is from no other than grandpa Kiyoshi and in the mail, he revealed that recently there were a lot of dojos that were built near his own. To make matters worse, those dojos are making loud noises like no end and the neighbors could not sleep at all due to this. He asked Don if he can conquer all the dojos to solve this problem once and for all, and so the new adventure of Don and his new apprentice has begin...
